🐑 Bellwether
You cannot command the flock. You can only walk in front of it and let it trust you.
How this goes
Forty sheep. No leash, no whistle, no orders.
- You are the bellwether — the one they follow. Walk, and the ones who trust you walk too.
- Bleat to calm a spooked flock. Panic spreads sheep to sheep; your calm spreads the same way.
- The dog and shepherd have their own eyes on the flock — they'll chase stragglers and tend the edges. That's their job, not yours.
- Ten drives home: fog, a river ford, a storm, market day. Get everyone through the pen gate.
- Every calm drive, the flock trusts you a little more. They'll follow tighter next time.
